Actress Zendaya responded to a fake wedding photo of herself and actor Tom Holland that became popular on the internet. After going viral on Instagram in the middle of February, the photos received over a million likes in just one hour and sparked a lot of emotions, with many followers doubting their veracity.
In response to the pictures, Zendaya explained in a live interview with Jimmy Kimmel that they were artificial intelligence (AI)-generated and not real, pointing out that a surprising amount of people were persuaded they were.
She disclosed that the situation worsened when even those who were close to her started to believe that she had secretly married the English actor and lavished her with praise.
In her words, “While I was just out and about in real life, people were like, ‘Oh my God, your wedding photos are gorgeous.'” And I was like, ‘Babe, they’re AI. They’re not real.'”
