The FCT Police Command officers received praise from well-known Nigerian social media critic VeryDarkMan for assisting a mentally ill woman in giving birth in Kwali Area Council.
According to his Instagram account, VeryDarkMan, “it happened in the early hours of April 3, 2026, during a routine surveillance operation by officers of the Rapid Response Squad, RRS, deployed across the FCT due to heightened security concerns ahead of the Easter celebrations.”
He claims that “the officers who were on patrol around Kwaita village in Kwali Area Council suddenly heard loud cries coming from the roadside at about 12:20 a.m.”
The officers found a mentally ill woman who had just gone into labor as soon as they advanced in the direction of the cries.
The FCT Police Command confirmed the event, stating that the police acted quickly after learning about the woman at around 12:30 a.m.
The Officer-in-Charge of the Gender Unit at Kwali Division promptly mobilized with her team to the place after receiving the report, according to a statement released on Saturday by Police Public Relations Officer SP Josephine Adeh.
The officers helped the mom and made sure the baby was delivered safely.
In response, VeryDarkMan promised to fund the child’s education from elementary school through university and praised the police for their humanity.
