Afrobeats star Davido has finally opened up about his experience at the 2026 Grammy Awards, and it turns out his wife, Chioma, was his biggest source of strength. After the award ceremony in Los Angeles, Davido admitted that losing again was tough for him. In fact, he felt so bad that he initially didn’t want to attend the after-party.
He shared a post on Instagram explaining what happened behind the scenes. He told Chioma, “Baby listen, we lost again. Let’s not go,” but she wouldn’t let him stay down. She encouraged him to hold his head high, telling him to “be humble in victory and gracious in defeat.” Thanks to her words, Davido changed his mind, saying, “we outside,” to show they still went out to celebrate. He called Chioma his “ride or die” and thanked her for always having his back.
While Nigeria didn’t take home the big trophies that night, history was still made by a young girl named Aura V. At just 8 years old, she became the youngest person ever to win a Grammy. She won the award for Best Children’s Music Album alongside her father, Fyütch, breaking the previous record held by Beyoncé’s daughter, Blue Ivy.
