Nigeria had a tough night in Los Angeles as heavyweights like Burna Boy, Davido, Wizkid, and Ayra Starr all lost the “Best African Music Performance” trophy to South Africa’s Tyla, who won with her hit song “Push 2 Start.”
Speed Darlington, filming from the streets of New York, didn’t hide his excitement over the loss. He suggested that winning a Grammy isn’t just about talent but about “connections.” In the viral clip, he used some very bold and sarcastic language, saying, “Oil Grammy o, oil Grammy. If you put am for nyash, you go win Grammy.”
Many people believe his comments were a direct shot at Burna Boy. Akpi has a long-running beef with the “African Giant” and even spent some time in detention recently for making similar jokes about Burna Boy’s relationship with American mogul Diddy.
