Tunde Ednut Slams Sowore For Draggin Gov. Alex Otti

by admin

Popular Nigerian influencer Tunde Ednut has publicly challenged human rights activist Omoyele Sowore for his critique of Abia State Governor Alex Otti in a battle of the internet titans. After visiting Aba for a demonstration, Sowore posted a widely shared video on Monday, March 23, 2026, which sparked the outcry. “I just came back from Aba a few days ago… some parts are transformed, partly not transformed,” the pro-democracy activist said in the video, characterizing the governor’s highly acclaimed developmental advances as a “half-transformation.”

Half-transformation is not something I believe in  – Sowore said. Sowore’s comments cast doubt on the “New Abia” narrative promoted by Labour Party supporters, implying that while infrastructure improvements are evident, they are still insufficient.

In response to the video on Tuesday, March 24, Tunde Ednut questioned Sowore’s lobbying style and consistency on his Instagram page. The influencer pointed out that Sowore hardly had anything positive to say about Nigerian prominent personalities and accused the former presidential candidate of upholding a “biased agenda.” Ednut asked, “Me I no come understand Sowore again. Nobody good for him eye? Okay, who come good for Nigeria like this?”

Ednut’s opposition reflects a rising belief among some Nigerians that constant criticism might be detrimental to the country’s spirit, especially in the face of apparent improvement.

The Abia State government has also responded sharply to the controversy. Onyebuchi Ememanka, Director General of the Abia State Strategic Communications Bureau, rejected Sowore’s report as a “cheap hatchet job,” claiming that a valid performance appraisal cannot be completed in less than a day in a metropolis like Aba.

The administration’s efforts on roads and security are “loved and appreciated” by the locals, according to Ememanka, despite ongoing problems including trash management and flooding. This conversation between a well-known influencer and an experienced activist highlights the stark differences in Nigerians’ perceptions of “transformation” and the function of critics in the current democratic environment as the 2026 electoral cycle intensifies.
