Punuka Attorneys & Solicitors, the law firm representing Sophia Momodu, has issued a formal response following Afrobeats star Davido’s public announcement that he is withdrawing from the custody case for his daughter, Imade.
In a strong statement released on Monday, February 16, 2026, the firm defended its partner, Mrs. Ebelechukwu Egeonu Enedah, against what it described as “inflammatory public statements” and harassment orchestrated by the singer on social media.
The firm emphasized that the case remains sub judice and warned that attempts to intimidate legal practitioners for asking difficult questions or testing evidence in a courtroom pose a grave threat to the administration of justice. “When counsel is forced to weigh personal safety against professional duty, the rule of law itself is weakened. It will not begin with us,” the firm said.
The legal fallout was triggered by a tense session at the Lagos State High Court in Yaba, where Davido reportedly lost his composure during cross-examination. The singer later took to X and Instagram to claim that the opposing counsel used a “lowest blow” by referencing the 2022 death of his late son, Ifeanyi.
Expressing his deep distress, Davido wrote, “I’ve decided to drop the case because … until she brought out her last card! MY DECEASED SON! THAT’S A NO NO!” He further alleged that no one won the case except at the expense of his daughter’s well-being, stating, “Nobody won, nobody lost but Imade … so I don’t know why some pple r celebrating.”

In the midst of the heated exchange, the situation took a bizarre turn when Davido mistakenly identified gospel singer Tosinbee as the son of Mrs. Enedah. The singer shared a post criticizing Tosinbee’s music and suggesting he was the lawyer’s child, writing, “And she has a son… Tosin you will live long amen with the rubbish you dey sing.”
Tosinbee quickly clarified on Instagram that he had no relation to the lawyer and that his own mother had passed away eight years prior. Realizing the error, Davido later issued a brief apology to the gospel artist, saying, “I apologize! My bad G.” Despite the personal apologies, Punuka Attorneys has called on the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) to condemn the harassment of its partner, maintaining that no amount of media commentary will sway their professional approach to the case.
