Nollywood actress Rosy Meurer has sparked fresh controversy by publicly denying any prior friendship or acquaintance with Tonto Dikeh, the ex-wife of her husband, Olakunle Churchill. In a series of Instagram videos shared on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, Meurer addressed long-standing rumors that she was Dikeh’s “best friend” before marrying Churchill in 2021.
She said these claims as fabrications by bloggers, stating categorically, “I have never met her. I have never seen her, she doesn’t have my number, I don’t have her number.” Meurer further noted the age gap between them, pointing out that Dikeh is nearly a decade her senior, and challenged anyone with photographic or digital proof of their alleged friendship to come forward.
This new stance has drawn significant backlash from the public, as it appears to contradict her own statements from 2017. During the initial heat of the cheating allegations that preceded Churchill and Dikeh’s divorce, Meurer had defended her closeness to the family by saying, “His wife (Tonto Dikeh) remains family to me. We’ve hung out together before and I don’t see a big deal there.”
Addressing the inconsistency, Meurer later explained in a lengthy follow-up post that she was “forced to lie” by her PR team at the time. She claimed she was young, innocent, and under immense pressure to follow a script that would de-escalate the violence of the public dragging she was facing. “Right now whatever I say is THE REAL TRUTH. I am now older and wiser,” she claimed, debunking the old footage as a product of fear.
The timing of Meurer’s outburst is notable, as it occurred just 24 hours after Olakunle Churchill and Tonto Dikeh publicly reunited to celebrate their son King Andre’s 10th birthday on February 17. The viral photos of the former couple acting as a united front for their son’s milestone led to rumors that Meurer had unfollowed her husband in a fit of jealousy.
Meurer, who was celebrating her own birthday in Cancun, Mexico, at the time, also took the opportunity to debunk the following rumors, providing video evidence that she is still following Churchill and explaining that she intentionally gave him space to be in Lagos for his son’s big day. “Enough is enough,” she concluded, “It is my life, my story and no one but me is allowed to tell it.”
