The Edo State Police Command verified on Saturday, March 21, 2026, that all of the main suspects in the widely reported bullying case at Igbinedion Education Center have been taken into custody.
The police said that the suspects, who are all minors, will be formally arraigned before the Family Court after conducting a “thorough and painstaking investigation” into the alarming video that showed a youngster being kicked and stomped on.
In order to ensure that the case is handled in accordance with the legal safeguards granted to children while also addressing the severity of the attack, this unique judicial path is in line with juvenile justice procedures and the Child Rights Law.
The state government has upheld its “zero-tolerance” policy and insisted on criminal prosecution as a deterrent in spite of these apologies and the school’s prior decision to expel the kids.
The police have also organized the “Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices” (POCACOV) to carry out advocacy activities at Benin City’s secondary schools as the suspects get ready to appear in juvenile court. The goal of this action is to reduce hostilities and give parents and administrators a “wake-up call” about the potential risks associated with unbridled school rivalry.
