Nigerian Army Arrests Sule Yellow After Collecting Ransom

by admin

The Nigerian Army has captured Sule Yellow, a renowned “celebrity” bandit, in a major win for the current military campaign against kidnapping syndicates in the North-West. The guy was apprehended on Monday, March 16, 2026. He had become well-known and had a contentious following on TikTok due to his blatant displays of cash and insulting security personnel.

According to military sources, immediately after obtaining a multi-million naira ransom from the family of a recently kidnapped victim, Sule Yellow was reportedly returning to a woodland hiding in the Zamfara-Katsina axis when the tactical unit “Operation Hadarin Daji” moved in on him. The arrest represents a turning point in the battle against the “gamification” of banditry, in which criminals are increasingly using social media to glamorize their crimes and scare the local population.

After several of his videos went viral, Sule Yellow—whose true name is being suppressed pending official charges, became a symbol of the bold growth of banditry. The movies featured him and his gang members dancing with assault guns, wearing tactical gear, and holding bags full of naira notes. According to intelligence assessments, he used his TikTok presence as a psychological warfare tactic to generate panic and coerce families into paying ransoms sooner rather than just out of vanity.

After a week of intense electronic surveillance and human intelligence tracking that determined his mobility patterns during the ransom exchange, he was apprehended. When he was apprehended, forces allegedly found a store of ammo concealed inside his motorcycle, many high-end communication gadgets used for negotiations with the victims’ families, and a sizable chunk of the recently paid ransom.

The Director of Army Public Relations, Major General Onyema Nwachukwu, stated that eliminating prominent “media-savvy” bandits like Sule Yellow is essential to depressing rebel organizations’ morale and deterring young people from being drawn into the profitable but lethal trade. Many Northern Nigerians who have been intimidated by his group have expressed a mixture of relief and a need for a swift, public trial as word of his detention spreads around the region. The suspect is being questioned at a secure military facility in order to obtain information on the whereabouts of hidden weapons stockpiles in the Rugu and Sububu forests as well as the whereabouts of other senior bandit commanders.
