“I Take Responsibility” – President Tinubu Visits Jos to Console Families of Massacre Victims

by admin

On Thursday, April 2, 2026, President Bola Tinubu delivered his pledge to make a special visit to Plateau State in order to personally comfort the relatives and survivors of the horrific Palm Sunday tragedy.

The horrifying violence in the Angwan Rukuba district, which left at least 27 residents dead and numerous others suffering life-altering injuries, prompted the President to travel to Jos. The Commander-in-Chief met with the distraught mother during the poignant visit. The mother’s viral video of herself clutching to the body of her dead son, Ayuba, served as a sobering reminder of the country’s security issues.

Speaking directly to the woman, the President expressed that although the government will offer assistance, no sum of money can adequately make up for a loss of this magnitude on a worldwide scale.

The President assumed entire responsibility for the residents’ safety in a rare instance of administrative accountability and promised that such a savage event would not occur again while he was in office. He underlined that the ultimate objective of the renewed hope agenda is to restore Nigeria to the tranquil society that many people grew up in, where justice is carried out promptly and forcefully.

He reassured the Gari Ya Waye community that the federal government is dedicated to a staged strategy for their protection and rehabilitation, even if he pointed out that true comfort can only come from a higher source. Many have perceived this visit as an effort to shift the focus from the terrible aspects of the weekend’s events to a more proactive approach to national security.
