Adeoluwa Okusaga, the multi-talented and former Big Brother Naija Season 6 housemate popularly known as Saga, reveals the real reason behind his participation in the reality show. Speaking in a recent interview with Channels Television on Sunday, February 22, 2026, the 33-year-old revealed that despite having a stable career as an offshore engineer, he viewed the platform as the essential launchpad for his true passion in the entertainment industry.

Saga disclosed that he wasn’t even a viewer of the show initially, but his work colleagues, who recognized his creative spark, were the ones who persistently urged him to audition. “I went to Big Brother Naija to launch my career as an entertainer. I am an engineer. My colleagues at work begged me to go for Big Brother Nigeria; they said I will do well,” he shared during the broadcast.

The reality star, who has successfully transitioned into a prolific actor with over a dozen movie credits to his name, also offered an insightful perspective on why his technical background serves as an asset in the creative world. He argued that engineering and the arts are not as far apart as people might assume, noting that both disciplines rely heavily on a “powerful imagination” and disciplined skill.

To emphasize his point, he drew a parallel to historical figures who bridged both worlds. “As an engineer, you have to have a powerful imagination, understanding, and skill. A lot of artists like Da Vinci ended up as engineers because it’s a parallel,” he explained.

Speaking on his journey since his eviction in the ninth week of the 2021 “Shine Ya Eye” season, Saga admitted that while he initially abandoned his creative side to focus on his engineering studies, he has since fully embraced his roles as an actor, fitness enthusiast, and hyper-realistic artist.

He credited the reality show for providing the visibility needed to bypass the traditional “lost years” of a struggling artist and fast-track his influence in the Nigerian media space. Today, he is widely regarded as one of the most successful “multi-hyphenates” to emerge from the franchise, proving that a background in science and math can provide a unique foundation for excellence in the performing arts.
