Dele Momodu, a prominent Nigerian politician and the publisher of Ovation Magazine, has revealed that high-level discussions are currently underway with the Adeleke family to settle the long-standing legal and personal dispute between Afrobeats superstar Davido and Sophia Momodu. Addressing the public from Liberia on Friday, February 20, 2026, Momodu noted that he had been “inundated with messages from fans” of both parties urging him to intervene as a family elder.
Dele Momodu, who is the uncle of Sophia Momodu, sought to reassure the public that the families are actively seeking a peaceful resolution behind the scenes. “Nothing to worry about. Everything is going to be alright. We’re working behind the scenes. Please, keep everyone in your prayers,” he shared via his Instagram page.
The veteran publisher’s intervention comes at a particularly sensitive time, following Davido’s dramatic withdrawal of his child custody lawsuit on February 14, 2026. The singer had initially approached the Lagos State High Court in 2024 seeking joint custody and unrestricted access to their daughter, Imade Adeleke.
However, the legal proceedings took a tragic and emotional turn during a recent hearing when Sophia’s legal team reportedly made reference to the death of Davido’s late son, Ifeanyi Adeleke, a move the singer condemned as a “low blow” and a “no-no.” Davido subsequently announced on social media that he would no longer pursue the case in court, stating that while “nobody won,” he wanted to move on from the toxicity of the litigation for the sake of his daughter.
Momodu’s current visit to Liberia, where he is commiserating with former Vice President Jewel Howard-Taylor over the loss of her only child, provided the backdrop for this latest update. Despite his official engagements abroad, he emphasized that the welfare of Imade remains a priority for both the Momodu and Adeleke families.
