According to Bold Sports, Super Eagles midfielder Frank Onyeka will team up with Premier League great Frank Lampard after Coventry City reached an agreement to buy the Nigerian international from Brentford.
An deal has been made for Onyeka to join Coventry on loan with the goal of making the switch permanent in the summer, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, who confirmed the move with his signature “here we go.”
This season, the 28-year-old has had difficulty getting regular playing time at Brentford; he has only appeared in nine games across all competitions and has yet to start in the Premier League. It is believed that Onyeka has been looking for a more significant position, but this hasn’t happened at the Gtech Community Stadium this season.
According to reports, Brentford is considering selling or loaning out the Nigerian player since they are unsure of his long-term future with the team. In addition, head coach Keith Andrews acknowledged that he recognizes Onyeka’s need for consistent playing time, since the midfielder will soon have the chance to compete for promotion in the Championship.
Despite Sheffield United’s interest, Coventry, led by former England and Chelsea midfielder Lampard, had been in the lead for Onyeka. As they pursue a return to the Premier League, the Sky Blues have finally emerged victorious, bolstering their team at a pivotal point in the season.
