Mamadou Sarr and Sverre Nypan Back at Chelsea and Man City

Chelsea and Manchester City have called back two of their bright young stars to join their main squads on this transfer deadline day.

Chelsea confirmed that 20-year-old defender Mamadou Sarr is back at the club after a loan spell with French side Strasbourg. Sarr is already a winner; he was part of the Senegal squad that recently won the 2025 AFCON trophy in Morocco.

He also has a bit of history with the Blues already, having made his debut during Chelsea’s successful Club World Cup run last year. After playing 18 games in France, Chelsea decided to bring him back home to help strengthen their defense for the rest of the season.

At the same time, Manchester City has recalled their Norwegian midfield talent, Sverre Nypan, from Middlesbrough. The 19-year-old joined City last summer from Rosenborg on a long-term deal until 2030 but was sent to the Championship to get more playing time.

After making 22 appearances for “Boro,” Nypan is now back at the Etihad. He has been handed the No. 41 shirt and will be working directly under Pep Guardiola as the team fights for more trophies this year.
