“I Can’t Eat With the Right Side of My Face” – Victor Osimhen on Having 18 Screws in His Head

Super Eagles star Victor Osimhen revealed more about the long-term physical effects of the terrible facial injury he suffered in 2021. Following his recent trip to Nigeria to receive treatment for a broken arm, the striker gave an update on his health from his home nation on Saturday, March 21, 2026, leaving admirers in awe of his fortitude.

In his words, “I still have about 18 screws in my face from my previous operation and I can’t even eat properly on the right side,” recalling the reconstructive surgery that saved his career following a match against Milan Škriniar of Inter Milan. The striker described eating as a “daily reminder” of the accident because of nerve damage and the placement of titanium plates, which cause numbness and limited movement on the affected side.

The 27-year-old forward used the revelation to minimize the seriousness of his most recent injury, a fractured right forearm he suffered earlier this week at Anfield during Galatasaray’s Champions League match against Liverpool.

Osimhen maintained that the arm fracture is “just a minor thing” in comparison to the potentially fatal experience he had years prior during a discussion on Carterefe’s Twitch channel. “I’m no stranger to this sort of thing; I’ve been through worse,” he said, adding that even though he might require arm surgery and be off for six weeks, his spirit is unbroken.

The current African Footballer of the Year has maintained a positive attitude despite being in a cast and missing Nigeria’s forthcoming friendlies against Iran and Jordan. He even shared a humorous moment on social media with his injured teammate Noa Lang.
