Escaped Doctor Identifies His Kidnappers at His Own Hospital

by admin

In a truly shocking twist of fate, a medical doctor in Edo State was able to identify his kidnappers after they unwittingly brought a baby to the very hospital where he works.

The victim, Dr. Abu Ibrahim Babatunde, had been kidnapped in Auchi, Etsako West Local Government Area, in early January 2026. Tragically, his brother, Abu Tahir Babatunde, who was taken along with him, was killed by the gunmen during the ordeal. While the doctor eventually regained his freedom on Wednesday, January 14, the trauma of the kidnapping and the loss of his brother left him in deep mourning.

The shocking arrest happened this morning when the suspects arrived at the hospital seeking medical attention for a baby. Dr. Babatunde, who was on duty, immediately recognized the faces of the men who had held him captive and murdered his brother. He managed to alert the hospital security and the police without raising the suspects’ suspicions, leading to their swift arrest on the spot.

Colleagues and members of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), who had previously staged protests over the abduction and the killing of Dr. Tahir, have described the incident as “divine justice.” The suspects are currently in police custody, and investigations are ongoing to determine if they are part of a larger kidnapping ring operating within the Edo North axis.
